Snow Cave Outing

January 8-9 2011

Another great weekend. The snow couldn't have been better. Everyone had the opportunity to build their snow caves during the day and slept quite comfortably on Saturday night. For those who did not attend this outing, you missed a great time. Unfortunately though, it did not get cold enough to earn our Polar Bear patches but everyone had a enjoyable time.

April 23-25 2010

Some of the Venture Crew arrived Friday evening in spite of the blowing snow storm.  They spent a quite evening at a pizza joint and watching a movie at a local theater.  Saturday morning the rest of the troops arrived in time to start the days events.  Most of the younger scouts and a few adults hiked a 5 mile portion of the Falcon Loop Trail and then spent the rest of the day at the academy bowling alley. The more adventurous members of the troop hiked the entire 15 Mile Falcon Trail.

Great Sand Dunes

National Park and Preserve

May 21-23 2010

Enjoyed the wonderful world of sand. winds were probably around 30 knots so we didn't have to worry about getting too hot.  The younger scouts spent the day reviewing basic scout skill, roaming around the dunes, and playing in the river. The scouts attending Philmont this summer took a hike upto and beyond Zapatta Falls.

 A great hiking weekend. The scouts and adults attending this event earned a medal and patch for completing the Gregg Boundary Trail consisting of 13.5 Miles and almost 2000 ft of ascent.

TIMBERLINE DISTRICT CAMPOREE

An awesome weekend with a great variety of food. As always, this was a well attended event.
